Affordable Homes in Richardson ISD: Why Woodhaven HOA Deserves a Closer Look

Some of the most affordable housing in Richardson ISD (zip code 75081), typically priced between $220,000 and $270,000, can be found in Woodhaven HOA along Towne House Lane in Richardson, Texas.
There’s just one catch: these are townhomes, not detached single-family houses.
If you’re determined to purchase a single-family home, there are other options to explore. But before dismissing Woodhaven, consider what you’re getting for the money.
More Space, Better Floor Plans, and an Excellent Location
Many Woodhaven townhomes offer surprisingly spacious floor plans, often with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, two separate living areas, a formal dining room, and a breakfast area. Compared with many similarly priced homes, these townhomes can offer more living space and more functional layouts.
And then there’s the location!
Woodhaven is situated in one of Richardson’s most convenient areas, with easy access to shopping, restaurants, schools, and major roads, including Belt Line, Buckingham, Plano Road, Jupiter, and Abrams. US-75 and I-635 are just a short drive away.
For buyers prioritizing space, convenience, and affordability, Woodhaven deserves serious consideration.

But There’s Another Catch: These Buildings Have History
Woodhaven townhomes were built around the 1970s. And with buildings of this age, understanding their maintenance and repair histories can be just as important as evaluating their current appearance. Two townhomes may have identical floor plans and similar asking prices, but their buildings may have experienced very different maintenance issues over the decades.
Foundation concerns, drainage problems, previous structural repairs, and ongoing maintenance needs can make a substantial difference in future ownership costs.
The question isn’t simply whether the townhouse looks good today. It’s what has happened to the building over the past 50 years.
Here’s Where I Can Offer Something Different
I’ve been a Woodhaven resident for many years and have served on the Woodhaven HOA Board of Directors since approximately 2014–2015. During that time, I’ve developed extensive firsthand familiarity with the community, its buildings, maintenance histories, and many of the challenges that individual properties have faced.
This is the kind of local knowledge that’s difficult, and sometimes nearly impossible, for an agent unfamiliar with Woodhaven to develop from MLS listings and property tours alone.
As your Realtor, I can help you evaluate individual townhomes, identify questions worth investigating, and better understand what you’re considering purchasing. My experience complements professional inspections and the review of available property and HOA records.
